Wind forcing climatology


The figure above shows a 5-year average of the wind forcing over the western North Atlantic (from the Climatology of Global Ocean Winds – COGOW, http://numbat.coas.oregonstate.edu/cogow/index.html). Prevailing winds in the Middle Atlantic Bight (area marked by the blue box) are from the northwest during March, which should help in the glider flight to New Jersey.
